Bente — knitwear from our own mill.
Bente is a knitwear label. We design the pieces, we knit them, and we sell them direct - because the mill is ours.
Where it comes from
Our mill sits in Dongguan, the knitwear belt of southern China. Yarn comes in, and knitting, linking, washing and finishing happen under one roof. For years we have knitted for other labels. Bente is the label we make for ourselves: the yarns, weights and colourwork we wanted to put our own name on.
What we make
Knitwear, starting with the intarsia knit sweater. Patterns are knitted into the garment rather than printed on top, so the design is part of the fabric. The first drop is small on purpose - we would rather make a short run properly than a big run carelessly.
How we sell
- Shipping: every order ships tracked from our warehouse, usually 5-12 business days
- Returns: unworn items can be returned within 30 days
- Sizes: XS to 2XL, with measurements on every product page
- Questions: reply to any order email, or message us on WhatsApp - a person answers
The mill
Everything on this site is knitted at our own mill in Dongguan - from the yarn coming in to the last stitch and the final wash. It is the same floor that has produced knitwear for other labels for years; Bente is the label we keep for ourselves.
Knitted in-house
Our own mill in Dongguan. We choose the yarn, set the gauge and finish every piece ourselves.
Pattern knitted in
Intarsia and colourwork are knitted into the garment, so the design cannot peel, crack or wash off the way a print does.
Made in short runs
We keep runs short so a new design can be tested before it scales - and the pieces stay considered rather than mass produced.
